Yesterday you were 'just one of the team'. Now you're the Leader. So what's changed? Oh... just about everything...

Learning Objective:
Awareness of the challenges experienced when promoted from team-member to Team Leader/Supervisor and some of the  new skills required to help manage that change.

Target Audience:
New Team Leaders/Supervisors, those already in the role with no formal training, employees about to be promoted.

Making the transition:
Promotion to Team Leadership requires a fundamental change in thinking. New responsibilities are coupled with increased expectations on the part of management and employees.

Motivation:
An understanding of the various reasons employees come to work. Awareness that each individual  has a unique set of motivational requirements.

Communications:
A quick look at the way in which organisations communicate internally, plus 'conversation management' - open & closed questions & re-statement.

Basic Disciplinary:
Focus on behaviours, terms of employment, employee handbook, company policy, performance  review system, Warnings process, instant dismissal, Personal Grievances, substance & procedure. Updated for ERA 2000.

Conflict:
Often new supervisors experience problems with their fellow-employees on making the transition from team-member to Leader. We discuss DESC scripting, separating emotion & personality  from behaviours, and 5 conflict positions are demonstrated and understood.

Length: One full day.

Format: Workgroup interactive
Optimum number Participants/facilitator: 18
